With 2025 behind us, it’s almost time for the 2026 regular session of the New Mexico Legislature, which will convene at noon on Tuesday, January 20. This will be a short 30-day session with a primary focus on developing the state’s budget for the next fiscal year. Governor Lujan Grisham has already released her budget recommendation and the Legislative Finance Committee will unveil its proposal soon. And bills are starting to be pre-filed to get a jump on introductions when the session formally opens. The Disability Coalition’s legislative preview is attached. It covers highlights of the Executive budget recommendation and information on bills that we expect may be introduced this year. Keep an eye out for weekly reports as the session moves forward.
