Attendant Services Program Specialist
This is a full-time position in Alamogordo assisting with providing Attendant Services. Responsibilities include verifying eligibility for services, assisting in the hiring, training and ongoing employment of attendants to work with people with disabilities. Must be able to keep current and accurate documentation needed to process attendants’ payroll, as well as maintain good communication with the NM Human Services Department and developing and maintaining consumer files and records. BA or MA in counseling, health services, education, or closely related area preferred, or a combination of skills, experience and education necessary to perform the duties outlined. The ideal candidate will possess excellent working knowledge of and experience with Centennial Care and Managed Care Organization operations. Experience in accurate and timely record keeping a must. Good verbal and writing skills required. Knowledge and experience in Independent Living philosophy, disability rights advocacy and disability resources desirable. Prefer person who is bilingual and/or who has a disability and/or is a user of attendant services. Becoming proficient in the state regulations under this program within a month is a must as well as ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
